In the summer of 2023, the life of a young Lafayette man was cut short in a burst of violence that unfolded on a Wednesday afternoon. Kvon O’Neil, a 20-year-old male, was found with multiple gunshot wounds on July 5th in the 500 block of W. Gilman Street. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 1:35 p.m., where they administered life-saving measures before transporting him to a local hospital. Despite their efforts, O’Neil succumbed to his injuries later that day.
