On the evening of April 23, 2023, Shawna McCowan, a 43-year-old Caucasian woman, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting in the Southern Highlands neighborhood of Las Vegas, Nevada. McCowan, who divided her time between Colorado and Las Vegas, was visiting friends and taking an evening walk with her dog when she was struck by gunfire. She was not the intended target of the attack. McCowan was a married mother of one son, and also worked as a teacher and a flight attendant.
