In the late evening of August 31, 2024, a dispute in a parking lot in Landover, Maryland, turned fatal, ending the life of 34-year-old Jakel Stone of Bowie. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 7:40 p.m. in the 6900 block of Hawthorne Street, Prince George's County Police officers discovered Stone suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved too severe, and he succumbed to them a short time later.
