On the evening of New Year's Eve, December 31, 2023, Nelson Bonilla-Reyes, a 36-year-old man, was fatally shot in Capitol Heights, Maryland. The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of Dunbar Oaks Drive. Responding officers found Bonilla-Reyes outside with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. One source indicated that Bonilla-Reyes was originally from Sensuntepeque, in Cabañas, El Salvador.
