In the late hours of a Monday evening in Atlanta, tragedy befell Darryl Gibson, a 32-year-old African-American man. On June 13, 2016, police responded to a call shortly before 11 p.m. and discovered Gibson in the driver's seat of his Honda Accord, which was riddled with bullets. The vehicle was parked outside the Summerdale Commons apartment complex located in the 2700 block of Old Hapeville Road in the southwest part of the city. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and body.
