On a summer evening in Norfolk, Virginia, the life of 24-year-old Norman Andrew Hollowell Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short. On July 21, 2024, in the Ocean View neighborhood, police were called to a home in the 2100 block of Pretty Lake Avenue around 7:20 p.m. for a report of a gunshot victim. Upon their arrival, they discovered Hollowell suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
