In the early evening of March 12, 2024, the city of New Brunswick, New Jersey, was shaken by an act of violence that claimed the life of 23-year-old Numi Simmons, a Black male. At approximately 6:53 p.m., the sound of gunfire pierced the air near the intersection of Throop Avenue and Delavan Street. When New Brunswick police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two men who had been shot.
Both victims were rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for urgent medical care.
