In the early hours of a cold Saturday in St. Louis, Missouri, the life of Kerry Carter, a 49-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short. On January 27, 2024, first responders were called to the intersection of South 7th Street and Chouteau Avenue, just south of the downtown area. There, they discovered an SUV that had crashed into a light pole. Inside the vehicle was Carter, who was initially believed to be the victim of a simple traffic accident.
