On the morning of December 16, 2023, Kansas City, Missouri, police officers were dispatched to the 4400 block of Garfield Avenue following reports of a shooting. The call came in around 11:40 a.m., with 911 callers directing responding units to a nearby residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered 41-year-old Eric Hayden unresponsive inside the home. Emergency medical crews at the scene determined that he had sustained a single gunshot wound and pronounced him dead shortly thereafter.
