On the evening of June 16, 2023, Kansas City police officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Askew Avenue following reports of a shooting. Upon arriving at the scene, first responders discovered a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The injured man was identified as Darryl G. Brown, a 39-year-old resident of the area.
