On July 31, 2024, at approximately 5:07 a.m., 28-year-old Staten Island resident Shamel Anthony Massie was fatally shot in front of 56 Roxbury Street in the Mariners Harbor neighborhood. Responding officers from the 121st Precinct found Massie with gunshot wounds to his head and both arms; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Another 28-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm and was transported to Richmond University Medical Center in stable condition.
