On November 11, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Asheboro police responded to reports of an armed robbery at 64 Skillz, a gaming center located on East Dixie Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 39-year-old employee and U.S. Navy veteran, David Matthew Davis, deceased inside the establishment from an apparent gunshot wound.
