On September 12, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., 23-year-old Franklin Rodriguez-Alfaro was fatally shot while seated in a van on Timber Lake Drive in east Charlotte, North Carolina. Responding to reports of gunfire, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) officers arrived to find Rodriguez-Alfaro with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
