In the late morning of July 21, 2023, tragedy struck on the 5500 block of Lansdowne Avenue in West Philadelphia. Responding to a call, Philadelphia Police officers discovered 22-year-old Ryan Demarcus Latimore, a Black male, unresponsive in front of a residence. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head. Officers rushed him to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, but despite the efforts of the medical staff, he succumbed to his injuries later that evening.
