On October 20, 2024, at approximately 10:49 p.m., the Fresno Police Department responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations near the intersection of Meyers Street and Arthur Avenue in southwest Fresno. The system detected a total of 59 gunshots: an initial burst of 44 rounds, followed by 13 rounds, and a final two rounds.
Upon arrival, officers discovered 35-year-old Patrick Dixon Jr. in the backyard of a residence, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.
He was immediately transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The incident marked the 25th homicide in Fresno for the year 2024.
The extensive gunfire also resulted in damage to two vehicles and a nearby home, though no additional injuries were reported. Over 40 cartridge casings were recovered from the street in front of West Myers.
In the course of their investigation, Fresno police identified and arrested three suspects in connection with Dixon's murder. On October 30, 2024, with assistance from the Sacramento Police Department and Fresno's undercover tactical unit, 27-year-old Donte Harmon and 30-year-old Maurice Fields were apprehended. Both individuals are known gang members and were charged in connection with Dixon's homicide, as well as a separate fatal shooting that occurred on September 10, 2024.
A third suspect, 24-year-old Nathen Rodriguez, also a known gang member, was already in custody for an unrelated offense and was formally arrested on October 25, 2024, for his involvement in the September 10 shooting. Authorities believe these homicides are gang-related and are part of a series of violent incidents involving nearly 100 rounds fired across both cases.
