On August 9, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., 27-year-old Peter Maldonado was discovered with a fatal gunshot wound inside a vehicle in the 200 block of North San Gabriel Avenue in Azusa, California. The car, which belonged to his mother, was riddled with bullet holes. First responders transported Maldonado to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Family members, including his cousin Valerie Ramos, expressed profound grief over his death.
Ramos described Maldonado as "such a great boy" who wouldn't hurt a fly and noted that he had no gang affiliation. She mentioned that Maldonado resided in the West Covina area and was in Azusa to visit his ex-girlfriend.
