On July 3, 2024, 47-year-old Mariam Woodlin was found deceased in a private residence in the unincorporated South San Gabriel area near Rosemead, California. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner determined that she died from a gunshot wound to the head, classifying her death as a homicide.
Authorities responded to the 7600 block of Steddom Drive around 12:20 p.m. after receiving reports of an unconscious man not breathing.
Upon arrival, deputies discovered both Woodlin and a 37-year-old man, Marco Ventura of Rosemead, unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced both individuals dead at the scene.
The investigation concluded that Ventura fatally shot Woodlin before taking his own life, leading officials to rule the incident a murder-suicide. The relationship between Woodlin and Ventura has not been publicly disclosed. No arrests were made, as Ventura was identified as the sole suspect in the case.
Woodlin was born on March 7, 1977, in Mexico City, Mexico, and resided in Los Angeles at the time of her passing. Her funeral services were managed by Forest Lawn in Glendale, California.
