On June 19, 2024, at approximately 12:42 a.m., 38-year-old Oakland resident Lorenzo "Zo" Newell was fatally shot multiple times near the intersection of Kelsey Street and Deboce Avenue in Richmond, California. Newell, a dedicated father to a 12-year-old daughter, was working as an in-home healthcare provider at the time of the incident. His family described him as a compassionate individual who also served as a security guard and an EMT for Falck Ambulance in Oakland.
