On June 18, 2024, at approximately 1:10 a.m., 26-year-old Alex Hamilton was fatally shot while staying with friends at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of College Boulevard in Oceanside, California. A single gunshot was fired through a bedroom window, striking Hamilton in the head. Several occupants fled the apartment, while others sought refuge in a bathroom until law enforcement arrived. Hamilton was transported to Palomar Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Following an intensive investigation, Oceanside Police detectives arrested three suspects on July 18, 2024, in connection with Hamilton's death. The individuals apprehended are 31-year-old Bryan Lee Teater of Oceanside, 23-year-old Mason William Brant of Vista, and 19-year-old Elijah Gabriel Marrero, also of Vista. Teater and Brant were already in custody on unrelated charges at the time of their arrest for Hamilton's murder.
As of now, authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting or specified which of the suspects is believed to have fired the fatal shot.
