On March 23, 2024, at approximately 5:40 p.m., 37-year-old Hernan Nieves II was fatally shot near the intersection of Cornuta Avenue and Flora Vista Street in Bellflower, California. Upon arrival, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies found Nieves with a gunshot wound; he was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner later identified the victim as Hernan Nieves II.
An autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was classified as homicide.
As of December 26, 2024, authorities have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects in connection with Nieves' death. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department continues to investigate the case and has urged anyone with information to contact their Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
Prior to his death, Nieves had a criminal record. In January 2024, he was arrested in Lakewood, California, on charges of forcible rape. Additionally, in August 2021, he was arrested in Los Angeles County for taking a vehicle without the owner's consent.
Despite these leads, the investigation into Nieves' murder remains ongoing, with no suspects publicly identified or apprehended. Authorities continue to seek information from the public to aid in solving the case.
