On October 8, 2023, at approximately 4 p.m., the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of an unresponsive individual under a bridge near the 8200 block of Gerber Road in south Sacramento. Upon arrival, deputies discovered 37-year-old Joshua Rash, who was pronounced deceased at the scene by Sacramento Metro Fire personnel. An apparent gunshot wound was observed on Rash's chest, indicating a homicide.
