On June 11, 2023, 18-year-old Nadia Itzel Tirado from Oakley, California, was tragically killed during a shooting at a birthday party in Antioch. The incident occurred shortly before 1 a.m. at a residence on the 3300 block of Sunset Lane, where a 19-year-old man was hosting a large gathering. Uninvited individuals reportedly crashed the party, leading to an altercation that escalated into gunfire. Nadia was struck in the lower abdomen and later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.
Six other attendees sustained injuries of varying severity during the shooting.
Nadia was remembered by her family and friends as an "amazing daughter, sister, friend" who had a remarkable ability to "light up a room and put a smile on everyone’s face." Her loved ones expressed profound grief over the loss, noting that "everyone loved her and she loved everyone." A GoFundMe page was established to support her family during this difficult time.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, the Antioch Police Department launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible for the shooting. Despite efforts, the suspects fled the scene before officers arrived, and no arrests were made at that time. Authorities urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
As of December 26, 2024, there have been no publicly reported arrests or identification of suspects in connection with Nadia Tirado's death. The case remains open, and law enforcement continues to seek leads. Community members are encouraged to provide any information that could aid in bringing those responsible to justice.
