On April 29, 2023, at approximately 2:20 a.m., 21-year-old Marie Villa Bedford was fatally shot while driving near the 9500 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Oakland, California. The Oakland Police Department responded to multiple ShotSpotter activations in the area and discovered Bedford suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
