On the evening of August 25, 2024, in Cibolo, Texas, 18-year-old Deshawn Shipp was fatally shot following a confrontation. Around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of Shady Meadows Lane. Upon arrival, they found Shipp lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident unfolded when a 16-year-old girl arrived at a gathering on Shady Meadows Lane, alleging that Shipp had physically assaulted her. This accusation led to a physical altercation between Shipp and 38-year-old Joshua Shineflew. During the confrontation, Shineflew allegedly shot Shipp in the chest. Shineflew remained at the scene when police arrived and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with murder and taken to the Guadalupe County Jail.
The Cibolo Police Department, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, conducted the initial investigation. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing and in its early stages, with no further information released at this time.
