On August 11, 2023, 24-year-old John "Trey" Shaunfield III was fatally shot at the DFW Gun Range and Academy in Dallas, Texas. The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. when Austin Tran, 25, entered the facility, shot Shaunfield, and then turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide attempt. Shaunfield was pronounced dead at the scene, while Tran was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
