On the evening of July 2, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., seven-year-old Kyrie Barnes was in bed playing a video game on his phone in his family's second-story apartment on Rothington Road in Dallas, Texas. Suddenly, a bullet pierced through the wall, striking him. Neighbors reported hearing what they initially thought were fireworks, followed by several gunshots.
