On May 6, 2023, Daniela Mendoza, an 11-year-old from Allen, Texas, tragically lost her life in a mass shooting at the Allen Premium Outlets mall. Her younger sister, Sofia Mendoza, aged 8, was also among the victims. The sisters were students at Cox Elementary School in Wylie Independent School District, where Daniela was a fourth grader and Sofia a second grader.
