On May 6, 2023, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Dallas Police officers responded to a shooting call in the 2800 block of Holmes Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 27-year-old Drevonta Damon Wheeler suffering from gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Another male victim was also found at the scene with non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
