On November 27, 2024, at approximately 11:55 p.m., San Diego Police Department officers responded to reports of a shooting in the south alley of the 3700 block of National Avenue in the Southcrest neighborhood. Upon arrival, they discovered 46-year-old Manuel Alejandro Correa suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite immediate medical attention from officers and bystanders, Correa was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that Correa was involved in a verbal altercation with a group of individuals in a nearby parking lot. The confrontation escalated, leading to an exchange of gunfire between Correa and a male individual from the group. It remains unclear whether the other individual sustained any injuries during the incident.
In the course of the investigation, a vehicle potentially connected to the shooting was located in the Ridgeview/Webster area, identified through the automated license plate reader system. Several individuals present at the associated residence were detained. One male was arrested on firearms and narcotics charges; however, authorities do not believe he is connected to Correa's homicide.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Correa's death, and the suspects involved remain unidentified.
