On December 18, 2024, at approximately 6:00 PM, 15-year-old Tomohnd Newkirk was fatally shot at the TGM Bay Isles Apartments, located at 11850 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street North in St. Petersburg, Florida. Officers from the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting and discovered Newkirk with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
