In the late morning of December 12, 2024, the Vidalia Village Apartments on Randolph Drive became the scene of a fatal shooting. First responders were called to the complex around 11:40 a.m. following reports of a man shot in the leg. Upon arrival, Vidalia police officers discovered 31-year-old Timothy Byrd suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported by emergency medical services to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital for treatment, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries
