In the early morning hours of November 19, 2024, the Central City neighborhood of New Orleans was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. Responding to the reports, New Orleans Police Department officers arrived at the 3200 block of Loyola Avenue to find a man lying wounded. The man was identified as 53-year-old Alvin Hammond.
