On a Tuesday afternoon in December, the life of 38-year-old Tyron T. Whitley, a Black male music writer and hip hop artist from New Jersey, was tragically cut short. On December 17, 2024, Whitley was fatally shot on North 9th Street in Newark. He was rushed to University Hospital, but medical efforts to save his life were unsuccessful.
