A spirited young Black/African American woman, 22-year-old Jayla Heaven, was fatally shot in the early morning hours of July 4, 2022, in Hartford, Connecticut. The incident occurred at approximately 2:15 a.m. at a large house party that was taking place at a multi-family home on Shultas Place. When Hartford police officers arrived at the scene, they found Heaven unresponsive. She was quickly transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
