Darrin Norris Winfrey, a 28-year-old Black/African American male from New Haven, Connecticut, was fatally shot on the night of October 23, 2017. A police officer on patrol heard a gunshot around 11:30 p.m. near Poplar Street and discovered Winfrey on the ground a block away on Richard Street with a gunshot wound. He was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
