In the spring of 2017, the life of Corey Douglas-Huard, a 37-year-old Black / African American man from Springfield, Massachusetts, was tragically cut short. On the evening of Tuesday, March 28, 2017, gunshots rang out in the city's South End. Police responded to reports of a shooting on Johnson Street, where they discovered Douglas-Huard suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
