On the last day of the year, December 31, 2022, a young Hispanic man named Giovanni Moreno was killed in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 20-year-old, known to his friends and family as Gio, was found by police inside a home in the Spring Valley neighborhood on Topeka Drive, near Rainbow Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue. His death was not from natural causes; the Clark County coroner's office later determined that he had died from a gunshot wound to the head and officially ruled his death a homicide.
