In the late afternoon of Tuesday, May 8, 2018, tragedy struck in Northeast Washington, D.C., when 26-year-old Bennie Dexter Turner was fatally shot. The incident occurred just before 3 p.m. in the 800 block of 19th Street, NE. After being shot, Turner sought help by running into a nearby home.
