In the spring of 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the peace of the Portland neighborhood in Louisville, Kentucky, irrevocably altering the lives of many. On the evening of March 31st, 27-year-old Brandon DeShawn Bell, a Black male, was fatally shot. Another individual was also wounded in the violent encounter, though their identity and condition were not widely reported.
