In the early morning hours of January 31, 2021, Dominique Fels, a 26-year-old male, was fatally shot at a Days Inn on Fern Valley Road in south Louisville. Fels was attending a birthday party at the hotel when a fight broke out between two other individuals. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, he intervened and was tragically shot multiple times. Emergency services were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m., but Fels was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
