In the autumn of 2015, the community of Clarksdale, Mississippi, was shaken by a grim discovery that would soon unfold into a story of profound loss. On September 30th, 28-year-old Candice Roper, a Caucasian woman, was found deceased in her King Street home. She was eight months pregnant at the time of her death. The scene was made even more tragic as another victim, 69-year-old Alton Bruce, was also found lifeless inside the residence. Both had been fatally shot.
