Delray Lloyd, a 27-year-old Black male, tragically lost his life on Sunday, August 8, 2021, in his former hometown of Benton Harbor, Michigan. Though he had relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana, at a young age with his mother, he was back in the city on that fateful evening. Lloyd was inside the Sunny Spot convenience store on Pipestone Road when he was fatally shot. The Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety responded to the incident just after 5 p.m. and found Lloyd deceased at the scene.
