In the early hours of August 11, 2017, the life of 21-year-old Asonte DeShawn Koppenhofer-Smart was tragically cut short in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Asonte, a male resident of the city, was fatally wounded by a gunshot to his upper torso just after midnight. The incident added another name to the growing list of unsolved homicides in Grand Rapids for that year.
