In the early morning hours of a Thursday in Camden, New Jersey, the sound of gunfire pierced the quiet of the Gateway neighborhood. Just before 12:15 a.m., a ShotSpotter notification drew police to the intersection of 10th Street and Atlantic Avenue. There, they discovered 25-year-old William Alvarez in the driver's seat of a car, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
