Mary Weems Gowen, aged 76, was tragically murdered on April 9, 1979, in Richmond, Virginia. She was followed by members of the notorious Briley gang from her babysitting job to her home. Upon reaching her residence, she was brutally attacked, raped, robbed, and ultimately shot by the gang members. This heinous crime was part of a series of violent acts committed by the Briley brothers, Linwood and James, along with their accomplices, who terrorized the Richmond area during that period.
