Cameron Dixon, 30, a Black male from Indianapolis, Indiana, died on Aug. 4, 2020, after gunfire ended a morning that began like any other on the city’s near-north side. Police were called to the 3000 block of North Capitol Avenue, where Dixon was found inside a vehicle in the parking lot of Vickie’s Discount Liquors, suffering from a gunshot wound. By the time officers reached the lot, the damage had already been done, and Dixon was pronounced dead at the scene.
