In the late summer of 2019, the life of Terry Bates, a 32-year-old Black male from Indianapolis, Indiana, was tragically cut short. On September 19, he was found the victim of a fatal shooting in the 600 block of Carlyle Place. The circumstances surrounding his death were immediately treated as a criminal homicide by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.
