In the early morning hours of August 12, 2016, the life of 27-year-old Delray Tyron Swift, a Black/African American male from Marion, Indiana, was tragically cut short. Swift was discovered outside the VIP Show Club, located in the 900 block of South Western Avenue, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Marion Police Department officers who responded to the scene pronounced him dead.
The investigation into Swift's homicide began immediately, with law enforcement working to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. Despite their efforts, no suspects were immediately identified or arrested in connection with the murder. While investigating the crime scene, police did arrest a 22-year-old man named Tre Richmond.
