In the fall of 2014, a tragedy unfolded in an Indianapolis apartment complex that ended the life of a young child. Five-year-old DaMoni Troutman, a boy, died on November 9, 2014, after being accidentally shot in the head. The incident occurred in the 1700 block of Century Circle South at the Oakbrook Park apartment complex. At the time of the shooting, DaMoni and his siblings were under the care of their grandmother.
