In the late spring of 2011, the life of 49-year-old Alicestein Wheeler, a Black female resident of South Bend, Indiana, was tragically cut short. On the evening of May 29th, a neighbor made a grim discovery behind a vacant house at 741 N. Lawndale, a property that belonged to Wheeler's family but had not been occupied for some time. It was there that Wheeler, known affectionately as 'Stein,' was found deceased. The neighbor immediately contacted emergency services.
